Laser Kittens: an RPG about tiny kitties growing up

We did it! 200 backers means we'll release our second quickstart scenario, "Pennsylvania Avenue School for Wayward Kittens." Stay tuned for a backers-only update soon with the link.

We've got a little over a week to go in our campaign, and I'm sure we can make it to 250 backers. At that point we'll release a third quickstart. And once again, we want your vote on what it will be. Would you rather play:

• "Home for the Meowidays"
• "Night at the Mewseum"

Tweet or Facebook post your vote with the hashtag #LaserKittens, and keep sharing the link to the campaign so that we can get those extra backers.

We're also getting close to making those kitten cards a reality! Rori's art is incredible and we really want to make the cards happen, but we can only do it with your support.

And it wouldn't be an update without a kitten picture, so here's Hercules (or "Herc" for short) -- get a load of those toe beans!

Stretch goals spotted -- get 'em, kitties!

Like a kitten seeing a red laser dot approaching, we're nearly to our first set of stretch goals.

• If we get another $100 pledged, we'll print the rulebooks in full color, so you can appreciate Cynthia's amazing art.
• After that, we'll set our sights on our $7000 goal: printing decks of kitten cards. We'll have some exciting news about that once we pass the first goal.
• We need less than 25 more backers before we release our second quickstart scenario. Keep using the hashtag #LaserKittens to vote for whether you want to see "Pennsylvania Avenue School for Wayward Kittens" or "Kittens Down Under" -- it's a tight race so far!

We did it! Just one week in, and Laser Kittens has hit its main funding goal. That means this game is going to be a reality. And with three weeks left in the campaign, there's so much more we can do.

 Our first stretch goal is simple: if we get another $1000, we'll be able to print the physical rulebooks in full color. After that is the one you've all been waiting for: if we hit $7000 total funding, we'll be able to create a deck of kitten cards that you can use to play Laser Kittens or any game that uses a standard 54-card deck -- that's kitten poker, kitten rummy, kitten solitaire, kitten go fish!

We also have an exciting way for you to shape what's in the game. We want to include a series of quickstart scenarios with pregenerated characters so that you can start playing Laser Kittens right away. Our first one, titled "Rats in the Walls," will go out to backers tomorrow. But we need your help in deciding what's in the second scenario. Here are your options:

* "Pennsylvania Avenue School for Wayward Kittens": The President has taken in a litter of foster kittens, and they're having adventures in the White House.
* "Kittens Down Under": Aussie kitties have to befriend some marsupials and avoid getting stomped by some rugby players to save the day.
